BIOGRAPHY

Iraj Kalantari Taleghani  is a renowned contemporary Iranian architect, famous for his contribution to the modernization of Iranian architecture. He was born in 1938 in Tehran, Iran. In 1964 he graduated with an MA in Architecture from the Faculty of Fine Arts in University of Tehran. He has also taught in the field of architecture at University of Tehran, Azad University, and the University of Science and Technology in Iran. In 1974 he founded Bavand Consultants, where he still holds the position of head of the board of directors. On September 26, 2005, Kalantari was chosen as Architect of the Year by the Society of Iranian Architects and Planners. 

 

In addition to his professional design career, he has 20 years of teaching experience in the architecture and planning departments of Tehran University, Azad University, and the University of Science & Technology. He has also served as a juror on some of the most important design competitions in Iran. Throughout his career, Iraj Kalantari has been a board member on various professional organizations including the Iranian Society of Consulting Engineers, Society of Iranian Architects, Iran's Artist' Forum, the Syndicate of Consulting Architects and Planners, and has been a Member of specialized committees in the Municipality of Tehran . In 2005 he was selected as Architect of the Year by the Society of Iranian Architects.
