Due to diverse tourism potentials and proximity to the metropolis of Tehran, the northern regions of Iran, host a large number of non- indigenous cultures and temporary domestic tourists every year. These cities experience different social diversities on weekends, and a large number of villa houses built for this purpose are not in harmony with the vernacular architecture and become a rival for the local patterns.
Ava Center is located in the north-eastern part of Tehran, on the slopes of the Alborz Mountains, where it enjoys a pleasant climate as well as a proper landscape – given its proximity to the mountains and green spaces of the north of Tehran. This part of the city is a largely residential district, and home to an affluent class of citizens. Over the years, land plots on the main street were gradually and organically built into jewelry shops and centers creating a serious parking problem.
This architectural work is an attempt to coexist between two generations of a family: mother, father, and two sons. The design is inspired by coexistence and embracing the three spaces together. The house is located in District 22 in an alleyway where each piece of land has its own distinctive personality. On the other hand, it has a simple exterior with brick facade and wooden shutters, representing a home for a noble family.
This 55 years old house was in desperate need of renovation. Because we only had 100 days to design and rebuild, there was no time to prepare renders or any kind of documents before execution; therefore, the sketching was done at the site during the execution. The plan was divided into three parts with the minimum connection.
The blue-yard house is a house of an Isfahani family. Its land is located in the part of the city of Isfahan, where land subdivision is almost based on an eastern-western pattern. According to the current laws, when a house is built in the upper half of the land, the main part of the house is exposed to the disturbing light of the West, which deprives the house from the south light, the best direction of lighting in Isfahan.
